It was there that she met Traci Champion, a visionary leader who quickly recognized Shona’s exceptional talent. Their partnership flourished, and even when the mill faced bankruptcy in 2023, Shona’s dedication never wavered. Beyond bookkeeping, she is an entrepreneur, successfully running a fitness club and a cosmetology business while cherishing time with her family.
In April 2024, after years of collaboration, Shona and Traci co-founded Champion & Hurlburt, bringing their expertise together to provide unparalleled financial solutions to businesses across California and Nevada.
With over three decades of excellence in accounting and financial management, Traci Champion has built a career rooted in leadership and strategic financial solutions. She began her journey in Northern California, where she ran a successful accounting practice, specializing in business setups, corporate compliance, tax preparation, payroll, and sales tax.
In 2019, Traci transitioned into private industry, taking on high-level financial roles that expanded her expertise. As Controller at an MDF mill in 2021, she met Shona Hurlburt, and their collaboration became a game-changer. After the mill’s closure in 2023, Traci advanced her career in steel construction finance while maintaining a strong client base.
Driven by her commitment to delivering expert financial solutions, she co-founded Champion & Hurlburt in 2024, bringing her strategic insight and deep industry knowledge to businesses in need of reliable bookkeeping, tax services, and financial guidance.
